New to yoga? Don't worry - we've got you!
First of all, upon entering the studio (using the south door, in the patio, across the street from Valparaiso University), please leave your shoes, purses, coats, and any other items you do not need to bring in the room with you in the hallway. Please ensure that your phone is on SILENT or OFF all together. Phones are not to be taken into the room. If you are concerned about your belongings, please leave them in a locked vehicle.
In a typical vinyasa yoga class, you will start by laying on your mat, transitioning into slow, soft, passive poses. Eventually you will make your way onto your feet for an active, dynamic flow through various poses. At the end, you will wind down with another series of passive poses before lying completely still on your mat for the final rest that we call savasana.
At this time, we do not require masks in the studio. If you feel more comfortable with your mask on, please feel free to wear it! We want you to do whatever makes you comfortable while you are here in this healing place with us.
As of 04/08/2022, we have reinstated our open door policy, which means walk-ins are welcome once again. You may register for class online ahead of time or check in at the front desk upon arrival.
ONE is a bit of a hidden gem. Our street address is 1605 Laporte Avenue, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. Your GPS will likely get you close enough, but some helpful information to note:
- We are located at the opposite end of the strip as Jimmy John's, on the side closest to Valparaiso University
- We are in between Saint Teresa's Catholic Church (to our west) and Life Bridge Christian Church (to our east)
- Please enter our building by going through the swinging gate on our patio's east side and walk past the sliding glass doors on your right. The student entrance is on your right, in between two planters and Chinese Fu dog statues.
You should come to class wearing comfortable clothes that you can stretch and move around in and a bottle of water. If you have a yoga mat - bring it. If not, we have plenty of extras for you to use, free of charge.
Yes! We have extra mats, blankets, blocks, bolsters, and straps for you to use, free of charge.
Our HOT Yoga classes are set to 102 degrees (we have specially heated floors as well which are turned up to 100 for HOT classes.) These are our best tips for HOT Yoga classes:
- bring a towel to place over your mat to maintain your grip if you aren't using a non-slip mat (the studio provided mats tend to be a little slippery)
- wear breathable, cool clothes to class
- bring plenty of water and be sure to take sips throughout your practice. You can always fill your water bottle back up in our kitchen.
- take child's pose when you need it - not just when the instructor cues it!
- if you start to feel unwell during class (lightheaded, dizzy, rapid heart rate) please come out into the lobby to cool down for a few moments and regain yourself. You can go back into class at anytime.
If you are 5-10 minutes late for class, please wait until the 10 minute mark before entering the room so that you do not disturb the meditation at the beginning of class (if the class starts at 7:00, come in at 7:10; if it starts at 5:30, come in at 5:40, etc.) If you are more than 10 minutes late to class, you will not be allowed in, and the class will be docked from your account.
To early-cancel your class reservation (which means the class will be put back onto your account for you to use at another time), please log into your account via the MINDBODY or One Valpo apps and select 'Cancel Booking.' Please keep in mind that in order to get the class back onto your account, you must cancel 60 minutes prior to the class start time.
If you do not cancel your class before the 60 minute window, you will be charged for class.
No, class packages and memberships do not cover special events (they are special after all). Class packages and membership only apply to classes on our regular, weekly schedule.
Generally we do not issue refunds for lack of planning. You may gift your spot to someone else or have them buy it off you (which you would handle between yourselves).
In the case of sudden illness, accidents, or unexpected events on the day of - please contact us promptly and we will discuss refund options with you.
We do not sell water, however you're always welcome to bring an empty water bottle and fill it up in our kitchen with purified water from the filtered tap! We do sell bottles of cold-pressed juice and various cans of seltzers in our to-go fridge, though.
Your billing date will be the same as the date you first purchased your membership on (for example: if you entered into a membership contract on August 1st, then your billing date will be the 1st of each month for as long as your contract is for). Amethyst & Sapphire Memberships run for 3 months. Quartz (Unlimited) Memberships are 12 months.
So, long story short, we don't have a landline at the studio. Instead, we use RingCentral, which is a voicemail program that sends the messages to our studio owner's e-mail. We will return your call once we read your message, however, the faster way to get a hold of us and get a prompt response is to message us on our Facebook page or by emailing us at [email protected].
Our best advice for being sure the shop will be open is to come take a class and shop afterwards! However, if you're not wanting to take a class, we're generally open when our classes are running (because someone will be at the desk to check you out). If you aren't able to come in during class times, message us on our Facebook page or shoot us an e-mail at [email protected] to set up a private shopping appointment.
